Following backlash towards the FA for fixture scheduling of the Community Shield in August, the Blues have taken action.
The glorified friendly will be played against Premier League runners up Arsenal. Given that the match will be played at Wembley on a Sunday evening, it will be difficult for Manchester-based fans to attend.
While a trip to London is expensive, the timing of the fixture is also seen as an issue.
Following initial backlash from fans, the match was rescheduled and brought forward to 4pm (UK). However, City fans are still unhappy.
With many certain to be boycotting the game, Blues have found a way to put the people first.
Manchester City writer Joe Bray reported that fans have collectively raised £10k for the local foodbank.

Momentum appears to be growing for the CS boycott – but the FA won’t be moving the kick-off time again. #mcfc https://t.co/6CJ6kou92C

Despite continued protests it is unlikely that the FA will reschedule the match for a second time.
