Manchester City reject offers for James McAtee

Manchester City have rejected sizable offers for young midfielder James McAtee.

Simon Bajkowski of Manchester Evening News has reported that City have rebuffed every transfer move made for the promising midfielder. Bajkowski adds that the champions have knocked back bids of up to £30 million for McAtee from interested clubs.

According to Bajkowski, there are Premier League and Bundesliga clubs interested in securing McAtee’s services.

Bajkowski also adds that McAtee has been putting in extra work ahead of Manchester City’s pre-season beginning next week. He’s been working with fitness and training coaches doing double sessions each day to be ready for the start of pre-season.

City’s young midfielder spent last season on loan at Sheffield United. He became an important part of the Blades squad that secured promotion to the Premier League. He made 43 appearances, scoring 9 goals and adding 3 assists last season for the newly promoted club.

With Ilkay Gundogan departing the champions over the summer, there is a spot in midfield available in the City squad. A season in the Championship will see McAtee return to Manchester City with more experience and a better understanding of what it takes to make it at senior level. That coupled with his undoubted ability means McAtee could shine for Manchester City next season.

It seems Pep Guardiola will give James McAtee every chance to make an impression this pre-season.
