Al-Ahli have been circling since June for Mahrez. So far the Algerian international has denied rumours of a departure. However, it is now believed that he has given the “green light”.
The Saudi Pro League has swiped players from across the Premier League. In an effort to boost the competitiveness of their league they have seduced some of the biggest names in football.
There is another Saudi club pursuing a Manchester City favourite as Al-Hilal try to tempt Bernardo Silva.
It could be a league to keep an eye on in future should more talent opt to join earlier in their careers. However, it is hard to see any league becoming as competitive as the Premier League.
While Mahrez saw reduced game time last season, he played a crucial part in the treble success.
His future remains uncertain as it stands.
