Pep Guardiola to be honoured by Manchester

Pep Guardiola is set to be honoured by the City of Manchester following a tremendous season.

After seven years of the Guardiola era, he has delivered a domestic quadruple and now the huge treble. Coaching the Blues to their first ever UEFA Champions League trophy.

Before claiming their first CL, they won their third successive Premier League and then beat Manchester rivals United to the FA Cup.

Since coming to Manchester Pep has exceeded all expectations of City supporters. He has made the Premier League his sandbox and he will not let others play. Five out of six titles illustrates that. He will now hope to continue the domination in Europe.

He has two years of his contract remaining, and he has said he will leave at the end of that.

George Lythgoe of the MEN reports that he is set be awarded the Freedom of the City of Manchester. Sir Alex Ferguson was honoured after United’s treble during the 90’s.

Lib Dem and United fan Chris Northwood said:

“Our city’s football heritage has no parallel in the world.

“I’m pleased to see, drawing a parallel with how football brings communities together, we’re able to work together with all parties to make this unified call from the whole council to award this honour to Pep Guardiola.”
