Manchester City stars dominate ESPN FC 100

Manchester City players have dominated the ESPN FC 100 for season 22/23.

The ESPN FC 100 is a player ranking of each position on the pitch and rates the best in each position. Season 22/23’s edition is the 7th edition of the ESPN FC 100.

Ederson came in as the 7th best goalkeeper in the ESPN FC 100. City’s Brazilian shot-stopper had a great season, capped by his match-winning display in the UEFA Champions League final win over Inter Milan.

At right back Kyle Walker came in as the third best right back. The City full back is still one of the premier right backs in world football. His performance against Real Madrid in the Champions League semi final emphasises this fact.

Ruben Dias came in as the number one rated center back. Dias outstanding season was a key part of Manchester City’s treble-winning campaign.

In central midfield, Ilkay Gundogan and Rodri were both named in the top 5. The City captain came in fourth after his immense campaign for the treble winners. He has since left Manchester City for Barcelona.

Rodri came in second on the list after Jude Bellingham at number one. City’s midfield general immense season sees him near the top of the ranking. It’s the recognition Rodri deserves after such a dominant season.

Kevin De Bruyne topped the list of attacking midfielders. City’s vice-captain was rewarded for his outstanding campaign. There is no doubt he is still the premier creative player in football.

Bernardo Silva came in 3rd on the list of attacking midfielders. It’s no less than the season Bernardo deserves. He is always one of the first on the team sheet and a key part of everything Manchester City do.

On the wing, City had 3 of the top 10. Phil Foden, Riyad Mahrez and Jack Grealish all took places on the list. With rankings of 9th, 6th and 3rd on the list it highlights just how much creativity and quality in wide positions City have amidst their ranks.

Up front, there was only one man for the number one ranking. After such a historical and record breaking season Erling Haaland came in at number one of all strikers. City’s Norwegian powerhouse is clearly the number one striker in world football.

As for the managers, there was only one choice for number one. Pep Guardiola is ranked number one. He is without a doubt the best manager in world football. His ranking highlights this fact.
