Money keeps on coming to Man City as sell-on clause is activated

Man City will receive approximately £10m as Spurs sign Pedro Porro.

The purchase has been confirmed by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano:

“Tottenham have officially triggered the buy option clause for Pedro Porro — it was already mandatory, so just formal process completed. €40m fee to Sporting for Porro, who’s now 100% a Spurs player.”

Porro joined Spurs following a loan deal with Sporting. However, the loan was with an obligation to buy in the summer transfer window.

The former Manchester City player has now formalised his signing to Spurs for €40m.

The fee gives the Blues a boost in funds as they claim £10m from a sell-on clause. When Porro signed for Sporting in 2022, they agreed to pay City 30 per cent of profit upon sale.

Having initially sold the player to sporting for £7m, Man City will ultimately claim around £12m in total for the player after buying him for £5.5m in 2019.

The £10m sell-on clause money will boost any transfer funds for the Premier League Champions despite their relatively quiet transfer business.

Singing of Chelsea midfielder Kovacic has already been announced. And it looks as though a deal with RB Leipzig for Gvardiol could be close.
