Manchester City interested in Atletico’s Rodrigo Riquelme

According to reports earlier today, Manchester City have already had a first bid rejected by Atletico for Rodrigo Riquelme.

Italian journalist Matteo Moretto claims that City are interested in the young player and have made a bid.

Sources close to Manchester City say that there will be a focus on outgoings before incomings.

Mateo Kovacic has been announced as City’s first summer singing in place of Ilkay Gundogan. While the club works on negotiations with RB Leipzig for Croatian defender Gvardiol.

However, new reports on Riquelme suggest that the Blues to bolster attacking options.

The Spanish forward has links to City Football Group after spending time on loan at Girona. Nevertheless, it would take €30m to bring the player to the Etihad as Atletico demand his release clause.

Cerezo and Moretto report that City are “determined” to sign the player.

This is not likely to indicate the departure of another City forward, nor seen as a direct replacement for a current squad member.
