Manchester City have reportedly held talks with the agent of Gabri Veiga.
90min report that City have met with Vega’s agent Pini Zahava to register their interest in the Spanish midfielder.
They also report that Manchester City isn’t the only club to declare their interest in the Spanish midfielder.
Chelsea, Liverpool, Newcastle United, Marseille and Napoli are all said to have an interest in signing Vega.
The report by 90min also adds that there is a €40 million release clause in Veiga’s contract. Celta Vigo would likely demand the release clause be met in any potential deal to sell the midfielder.
Veiga burst onto the scene last season with Celta Vigo. He appeared 40 times in all competitions for Celta and contributed 11 goals and 4 assists.
It was this form that has made him one of the most in-demand midfielders on the market.
Veiga is currently with the Spanish under-21 squad at the UEFA under-21 European Championship. He has made three substitute appearances thus far as Spain have progressed to the quarter-finals of the tournament.
City appear to be continuing to make moves to add to their midfield after Ilkay Gundogan departed the club for Barcelona.
Mateo Kovacic has already joined from Chelsea this summer.
