Ruben Dias dubbed “best defender in the world” in poll

Ruben Dias has been voted “best defender in the world”. The poll was completed by his Bundesliga peers following the end of the season.

The Portuguese star played a significant part of Manchester City’s treble campaign. He has won every Premier League title he has played for.

With the style and character of an old-school defender, as a leader at the back he helped Manchester City to the first Champions League trophy.

Ruben Dias, our number three, he left Benfica to join City in 2020. Having certainly strengthened the backline; he was vital in City’s unbeaten run during the race for the title.

The Bundesliga takes part in a poll every year, voting on various topics. While some relate to their league, others relate to general football opinions. One of which was “best defender in the world” currently.

252 players take their votes, 24.2% of the votes went to the Portuguese defender. Kyle Walker and John Stones also appeared on the list.

Despite John Stones moving into a hybrid role, his performances clearly impressed his peers. Meanwhile, Kyle walker is targeted by Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.
