Manchester City pursue Gabri Veiga after Declan Rice transfer saga

It was confirmed earlier that Manchester City have pulled out of the race for Declan Rice. The transfer saga was short lived and he looks set to join the only other club that bid.

Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano stated in his CaughtOffside substack:

“The Gunners have submitted a third bid for the West Ham United captain, offering £100m plus £5m in add-ons on Tuesday night.”

“Arsenal feel small changes to the £105m bid can make it happen.”

Manchester City now set to move for Gabri Veiga. The young Spanish midfielder currently plays for La Liga club Celta Vigo. Sources close to the club confirmed that they scouted the player some time ago.

Romano confirmed earlier that City are joining Liverpool and Chelsea in their pursuit. Veiga has a release clause of €40m.

The 21-year-old registered 11 goals and 14 assists last season while making 40 appearances.

However, it is yet to be determined how genuine Manchester City’s interest in approaching the player is. Nevertheless the blues will want to avoid entering a transfer saga that entails a bidding war.

Although some fans have been keen to point out that Veiga is a different profile of player to Rice.
