Arsenal raise the stakes in battle with Manchester City for Declan Rice

Arsenal have raised the stakes in the transfer battle with Manchester City for Declan Rice.

David Ornstein of the Athletic has reported that Arsenal have submitted an improved offer to West Ham for the England international.

Ornstein also reports that Arsenal’s bid for Rice would be a record fee for a British player. That title is currently held by City’s own Jack Grealish when he was signed by City from Aston Villa for £100 million.

Fabrizio Romano also reported on Arsenal’s improved bid for the West Ham midfielder.

Manchester City’s opening bid for Declan Rice was rejected. West Ham reportedly want £100 million guaranteed for their captain.

It remains to be seen if Manchester City will match Arsenal’s improved bid for the midfielder.

Declan Rice is reportedly one of Manchester City’s three main targets this transfer window.

Josko Gvardiol and Mateo Kovacic were reported to be the other two.

Mateo Kovacic completed his move to Manchester City on Tuesday as City secured one of their targets.

Personal terms have been agreed with Gvardiol. Manchester City are currently in talks with RB Leipzig over a transfer fee for Gvardiol.

Arsenal have raised the stakes in the battle for Declan Rice. It remains to be seen if Manchester City will up their bid, or fold in the chase for one of their transfer targets.
