After a spectacular debut season, will Julian Alvarez play go up another level next season?
Alvarez was a treble winner in his debut season at City, and a World Cup winner with Argentina. Debut seasons at a club don’t come much better then that.
City’s Argentinean front man contributed 17 goals and 5 assists in 49 appearances in his debut season for City.
With next season just around the corner, Alvarez seems poised to go up another level with City.
There were flashes of Alvarez brilliance during his debut season. He was used sparingly by Guardiola in his first season with the club. That was understandable considering Alvarez workload with River Plate in the season before coming to City.
When called upon Alvarez quality shone through. The dribbling skills, the work rate, and the flashes of magic all stood out in Alvarez game.

One particular moment stands out which was Alvarez spectacular winner away at Fulham. City needed someone that day against a determined Fulham side. Alvarez provided it with one of the goals of the season.

There were also the signs of a strike partnership forming with Erling Haaland. The pair scored 15 goals when starting together. That partnership maybe something Pep Guardiola calls upon more often as City set out to defend their treble of titles next season.
Haaland and Alvarez together on the pitch more often would be a formidable threat for any side across England or Europe to come up against.
Another pre season at the City should do wonders for Alvarez game.
He’s already a settled part of the squad, and seems poised to take the next step in his career.
City’s Argentinean striker has the potential to be another match winner for the treble winners.
If he takes the next step under Pep Guardiola next season, City will have another quality weapon at their disposal.
