Riyad Mahrez calls out “lies” about a move this summer

Riyad Mahrez hilariously puts latest transfer rumours to bed with a tweet yesterday.

Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano said the following in his CaughtOffside column:

“Any Saudi side keen on signing Riyad Mahrez has been given a clear message from Manchester City: an important fee will be requested.”

While Romano highlights that nothing is advanced, others had made further claims.

Some reports suggested that Mahrez was in advanced talks with the Saudi Pro League.

The Algerian who has been on International duties has put any rumours to bed.

He said in a twitter post: “day one of holidays and already lies.”

Mahrez joined Manchester City from Leicester City following a successful spell there. Having already been a key part of their fairy-tale Premier League win, he joined City in 2018.

His contract does not expire until 2025 with him now worth an estimated £20million.

He has made 47 appearances across all competitions this season. However, many of those have been off the bench.

The 32-year-old has 28 goal contributions with 13 assists and 15 goals.

Given that Manchester City could lose multiple key players this summer, holding onto Mahrez could be vital for the season ahead.
