Ilkay Gundogan is yet to determine his future despite leading Manchester City to an incredible treble this season.
City bosses have been trying to tie down the German for another year at least. While it is rumoured that he has been offered a 1 year extension, with an option to extend for 1 year beyond that.
Nevertheless, other clubs are sniffing around with Arsenal, Barcelona and Dortmund all rumoured to be keen.
The club, Pep, his teammates and fans would love him to stay. However, there is enough admiration to respect any decision made by the current captain.
The Premier League has published Manchester City’s players retained and released for the upcoming season.
It comes as no surprise to see Gundogan’s name on the release list. Indeed normal for a player who is due to be out of contract even with the possibility of extending.
Pep Guardiola’s men will undoubtedly be excited by the season ahead and the possibilities of what they could achieve. Could they make it 4 consecutive Premier League titles?
The blues will of course hope they can hold onto their captain with some big names set to leave this summer. Including Gundogan’s third in command, Kyle Walker.
Other names on the release list include: Benjamin Mendy, youngster Terrell Agyemang and young defender Rowan McDonald. While the English and European Champions have retained 68 players.
