Manchester City make huge James McAtee decision after Pep’s orders

Manchester City have seen one of their most successful seasons in blue history.

Emphatically winning the treble; consistency in the Premier League after a threepeat; a Manchester derby victory to the FA Cup; and a tough ride to their very first Champions League trophy.

During the season, there were some young stars that paved their own path in the history books elsewhere.

While there will no doubt be outgoings and incomings from across Europe, there will also be some movement for the academy stars.

James McAtee

According to Craig Hope of the Daily Mail, Manchester City want to hold on to James McAtee after an incredible season helping Sheffield United achieve Premier League promotion.

He said: “Manchester City will resist loan offers for midfielder James McAtee as Pep Guardiola wants him to be part of his treble-winning squad next season.”

With a number of other clubs interested in the young star, Hope added: “City want to give their academy graduate an opportunity to develop alongside the likes of Kevin de Bruyne and Phil Foden.”

While McAtee is rumoured to make his return, it does not look as hopeful for Cole Palmer.

Cole Palmer

In his article for the Daily Mail, referring to Palmer Hope claimed: “We understand he will be allowed to leave this summer, most likely on loan.”

Despite Palmer now having his name to a historical treble winning side, he failed to impress.

Rico Lewis

By comparison, Rico Lewis had an impressive debut season and arguably changed the course of City’s season.

Pep Guardiola trusted Lewis to play in a new system; he was then able to provide the blueprint for Stones to continue there.

According to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, Rico Lewis has looks set to stay with a contract extension.
