Manchester City latest transfer rumours as the summer window opens

The summer transfer window is open! We review what might be happening in the upcoming window for Manchester City.

Riyad Mahrez

This morning, transfer specialist Fabrizo Romano for CaughtOffside had this to say about Riyad Mahrez: “Any Saudi side keen on signing Riyad Mahrez has been given a clear message from Manchester City: an important fee will be requested.

“There is nothing final or advanced as things stand.”

Ilkay Gundogan

On Manchester City’s captain Ilkay Gundogan, transfer expert Ben Jacobs reported in his CaughtOffside column: “Manchester City have a few priorities this summer.

“The first is to get captain Ilkay Gundogan to extend. The club are awaiting his decision. Nothing is decided yet, but it will be very soon.”

Fabrizio Romano in his CaughtOffside column adds: City have offered a one year extension plus the option of one more season.

“Barcelona are also in the race, offering him a three-year deal, while Arsenal are informed on his situation, and Saudi clubs have also been trying for him since January.”

Bernardo Silva

Romano updates on Silva stating: “PSG really want Bernardo Silva but they will have to pay big money for him. Manchester City are in no rush over his future.

“City know that Bernardo is probably ready for a new opportunity, but it will be on their terms. Barcelona wanted him last summer but they didn’t pay what City wanted, so he stayed.”

Potential Incomings

In addition to Gundogan’s contract update, Jacobs added: “Keep an eye on Leipzig’s Josko Gvardiol. A major outlay will be required because Gvardiol only extended his contract with Leipzig last year.

“Kovacic has already accepted personal terms with Manchester City and there is optimism a fee with Chelsea can be agreed.”
