The moment the whole of Europe has been waiting for is almost upon us. While the Champions League final fast approaches we make our predicted line-up.
Guardiola and Walker were on press duties this week and it was confirmed that the whole squad is fit and ready to go.
Steven gave us a team news update earlier this week:
Pep Guardiola will undoubtedly select a side that we have seen successful against European giants Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.
Ederson
Despite Ortega leading us to FA Cup victory, Ederson has produced excellent Champions League performances this season. The Brazilian remains Guardiola’s number (3)1.
Walker
After a spell on the side-lines Walker has worked his way back into the starting XI. He has been undeniably crucial towards the business end of the season and his pace will be key in preventing effective counter attacks.
Stones
The defender dubbed “Barnsley Beckenbauer” has taken on a hybrid role this season, slipping into midfield alongside Rodri. Stones has solidified himself as a cult hero as his performances have impressed.
Dias
An old-school centre half that commands from the back with authority. His last ditch defending and shot-blocking is phenomenal.
Akanji
Fans are likely to welcome with Akanji or Ake in the left-back position with both performing incredibly well this season. Akanji has settled in seamlessly in his first season with the blues.
Rodri
Quite simply the glue that holds it all together. The very heart of the team.
De Bruyne
Manchester City’s creator will undoubtedly feature in the starting XI. He will need to kneel, tie his laces and have the performance of his career.
Gundogan
No one is leaving this man out. “Your defence is terrified, Gundo’s on fire”.
Grealish
Guardiola often claims that control is the best form of defence. Therefore, there is none much better at that than the England star.
Bernardo
The man with a brace against Real Madrid is likely to feature on the right wing, another that brings ultimate control.
Haaland
Finally, the big man up top. These are the moments he is here for. He could well be the difference.
Surely there will be no Champions League Final team tinkering from Pep Guardiola this season?
