This is how it feels to be City: Manchester City are European Champions

Manchester City have won the UEFA Champions League. European Champions.

The history makers. The Treble winners. The European Champions – finally.

Today Manchester City cemented themselves in history as they beat Inter Milan 1-0 in Istanbul to finally get their hands on the elusive Champions League trophy.

While the first half was a frustrating one for the blues, Inter Milan set up to make the game difficult.

Credit where it is due, the BT Sport team provided fantastic coverage for the historic occasion.

The blues set out to make history after fighting until the end to maintain their grasp on the Premier League title.

Following which, they added the FA Cup only last week. The one that was most coveted will now come back to the Etihad.

It was heartbreak again for De Bruyne in the first half after exiting the field due to injury. Nevertheless, Phil Foden came on and played a fantastic part of the final.

In a fairly even game, the breakthrough came in the 68th minute as Akanji played a brilliant ball through the lines. Bernardo pulls it back and it takes a deflection to the path of Rodri.

A familiar rocket from the Spaniard who took Manchester City into the lead.

Only minutes later, Ederson made a vital save to keep the blues in front. It was a tense ending but the boys in blue made it over the line.

Manchester City fans have now seen it all. They have felt it all. The pride of Manchester. The Champions of England. The Kings of Europe.

While Rodri was awarded Man of the Match. It is worth noting a special mention for the referee and his team who were on it. So much so that there were no VAR checks during the game.

We did it. While it may take some time to sink in; blues will wear their badge with pride as they always have.

From the darkest depths of the football leagues, to the elation of completing The Treble, it really is one of the greatest footballing stories in history.

Savour the moment. Take it all in. Because the we go again next season.

This is how it feels to be City. This is how it feels to be small…
