Kyle Walker declares himself fit for Champions League Final

Kyle Walker has declared himself fit for Saturday night’s Champions League Final against Inter Milan, despite missing training on Tuesday.

Speaking to the assembled media for Manchester City’s press day ahead of the Champions League Kyle Walker stated-

“I’m fine, I’m just getting old. I’m completely fine, it’s just an extra day of recovery.

“I’ve played a lot of minutes over the last number of weeks so the manager said, ‘Just stay inside and come Saturday you will be raring to go’.

I’m fine, the minutes that I’ve played when everyone else was injured, I was there digging my heels in and getting through it. I won’t be missing the Champions League final for anything.” Kyle Walker told the assembled media.

Pep Guardiola was more bullish than Kyle Walker in his press conference saying-

“He had a disturbance in his back. Yesterday, he was not good. Today, he was a little bit better. We didn’t want to take a risk and we will see in the next days.”

Kyle Walker’s inclusion would be a massive boost for Manchester City. Walker has been a key man in Manchester City’s run to the Champions League Final.

Kyle Walker played a key role defending Vinicius Junior at over two legs in Manchester City’s Semi Final win over Real Madrid.

Walker is also vital in Pep Guardiola’s three centre back formation which allows John Stones to slot into central midfield next to Rodri.

Walker declaring himself fit is welcome news and avoids a unwelcome distraction during the Champions League Final build up.

A fully fit squad for such a huge game is a welcome boost for Pep Guardiola and his squad as they try to secure Manchester City’s maiden Champions League title.
