Erling Haaland set to be offered a new deal by Manchester City

Manchester City are reportedly set to offer Erling Haaland a new contract.

According to The Times, club bosses are hopeful that City’s superb form on the pitch this season will help convince Haaland to commit to a longer stay, despite rumoured interest from Real Madrid.

As the blues struggled to find rhythm early in the campaign, rival fans criticised the Norwegian and labelled him a “tap in merchant”.

Meanwhile, Jamie Carragher claimed he had “picked the wrong club”.

Nevertheless, Haaland went on to break 26 records this season and has already enjoyed a Domestic Double.

Manchester City face Inter Milan in the Champions League final on Saturday, when Haaland will hope to win his third trophy with the club.

Given that this could be a history making season for the blues, of which Haaland has been integral, it comes as no surprise that City would want to persuade him to commit his longer-term future.

It is also hard to argue that his performances have not been worthy of a raise.

Furthermore, Haaland has undeniably become a fan favourite with his humble attitude and school-boy playfulness.

Undoubtedly, City fans and players would welcome such a move from the club and its star striker.
